Our mind works by complementary actions of the conscious and subconscious mind. The conscious mind is the rational force that works in a logical manner. It is in charge of actively processing information, making patterns, and decisions. That is what set human apart from other animals. On the other hand, the subconscious mind just records and stores any information that it receives from the environment no matter if they are positive or healthy for a human. The subconscious mind works easier with symbols and images. There is an overwhelmingly huge number of activities going on in our bodies that are controlled by our subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind starts its activity very early on even before you are born. In the beginning, it records everything that it hears or sees. As time passes, it forms beliefs (programs) on many aspects of life and become selective on what thoughts to agree or disagree with. The problem is that much of this programming is not necessarily helpful and positive for us and needs to be rewired or reprogrammed. For example, a person who is born into a rich family has already programmed to think like rich people and is likely to end up a wealthy individual. That is where the concept of mindset comes to play as well. Reprogramming is replacing negative mindsets and misbeliefs with a growth mindset.
There are many methods to rewrite your subconscious programs. The first step is to change your environment. Surround yourself with positive people who have the same life vision as you. Avoid toxic people who constantly play the blame game. Take responsibility for where you are in life and actively hustle to change it. Visualization is the next effective way for reprogramming. As we mentioned earlier, our subconscious mind works very well with images. Set goals and imagine that you have achieved those goals. After a while, your mind starts believing you. Listening to positive affirmations is another technique for rewiring the mind. Furthermore, the hypothesis is a useful method to get access to the subconscious mind. Lastly, meditation and deep breathing are excellent approaches to rewire the mind. Deep breathing puts you in a relaxed state. It is easier to access the hidden layers of your mind when you are in a relaxed state. Meditation helps you to get access to mental states that you are not capable of in normal conditions.
Here are a few selected quotes on the importance of rewiring the subconscious mind:
“Once the subconscious mind accepts an idea, it begins to execute it.” Joseph Murphy
“The infinite intelligence of my subconscious mind reveals to me my true place in life” Joseph Murphy
“The reason man may become the master of his own destiny is that he has the power to influence his own subconscious mind.” Napoleon Hill
“Act with purpose, courage, confidence, competence, and intelligence until these qualities ‘lock-in’ to your subconscious mind.” Brian Tracy
“If we could get your subconscious mind to agree with your conscious mind about being happy, that’s when your positive thoughts work.” Bruce Lipton
